In July 1941, Cardinal William O’Connell purchased the property on Nonantum Hill and just two months later, St. Sebastian’s opened its doors to the School’s first 21 ninth-grade students. The timeline was rather ambitious, with much to be done in such a short period of time, including recruiting those first students. One of the few precious documents we have from those earliest years is an original copy of St. Sebastian’s first-ever “viewbook.” The simple pamphlet outlined the basics, with notes on the purpose, location, facilities, faculty, discipline, religion, parental co-operation and cost (just $350/year).

Today’s 88-page  viewbook is dramatically different from this first version, as is the School itself. Yet, the vision and mission outlined in 1941 remain remarkably the same. Take a look…
